"Court of Love" is the latest Ghost Peppers single and stems from singer and songwriter Amrita Ghosh's return to her roots in Indian classical music. It is a raag bhairav bandish taught by Guru Mushtaq Ali Khan to Ghosh who practiced raagas with him for a long time and reconnected recently. Ghosh and Meehan took the bandish and made a fusion style song inside the raag bhairav frame.
Recorded at Bobby Chan Studios and Full Sail University in the band's home base of Orlando, FL, the track features tight rhythmic grooves and surprising improv flourishes on tabla by Ritam Bhowmik, along with guitars, bass, and keys by Meehan, who worked hard but joyfully to find chords and riffs that would support the raag-based melodies.
The “Court of Love” single is prelude to a forthcoming full-length release due out in September 2025 that will include a roots reggae version along with 8 other original songs by the band.
While finishing the album, Ghost Peppers are also out on the road promoting the single in Europe and the USA. Below are some pics from several gigs on the tour.
